Dear Gunn String Orchestra Members and Parents,

    On Friday, May 6^th we will be performing for a CMEA adjudicated festival at Independence High School.  We will leave via District school bus from Gunn at 4:30 p.m. and arrive in time to listen to JLS, Los Altos and Lincoln High School perform for the judges.  Then we will eat a bag lunch and warm-up.  Our performance time is at 8:00 p.m. and parents are welcome to attend.  We will sight-read at 8:25 p.m. and the string orchestra will be through by 8:50 p.m.   The chamber orchestra performs at 9:15 p.m. and will finish by 10:00 p.m.

     Students will need to wear their formal orchestra attire and pack a substantial brown bag dinner.  There will be a limited snack bar at the festival site and if your student has any special dietary restrictions they should plan accordingly. You will need to pick up your orchestra student after they are through with their performance.  There will be NO return school bus ride because not all of the orchestra members will be finished at 8:50 p.m.  Please plan to pick up your student or arrange a carpool to bring students back home the night of the festival.

4:30 p.m.       Leave Gunn High School

5: 00 p.m.      Arrive Independence High School

5:05 -6:20      Listen to JLS, Los Altos High School and Lincoln H.S.

6:30 p.m.       Dinner Break  (Brown Bag)

7:10 p.m.       Warm-Up

8:00 p.m.       Perform

8:25 p.m.       Sight-Read

(String Orchestra members are free to leave…Chamber goes to Warm-Up)

8:50 p.m.       Gunn Chamber Warm-Up

9:15 p.m.       Perform

9:40 p.m.       Sight-Read

 (Gunn Chamber Orchestra finished).
